Description

Buona Circadiem is a melatonin dietary supplement, certified 99% pure.
Melatonin, a molecule produced naturally in our body, is secreted by the pineal gland (also called epiphysis) and its effects are very well known. Thanks to the secretion of this substance, based on the alternating of light and darkness, our body regulates itself by alternating its sleeping and waking cycles (circadian rhythm).Melatonin is not a sleeping pill nor does it have any pharmacological effects on the quality and length of sleep, instead it enhances physiological rhythms by restoring the cyclical nature of sleeping and waking. It is produced at night with peaks between 2 and 4 o’clock, while its production during the day is minimal.

Composition

Buona Circadiem contains:
Melatonin (with a certified purity of not less than 99%, determined using the HPLC method), Potassium sorbate, citric acid.

Information

Sleep disorders are very common during the first three years of life and affect approximately 30% of infants (and their parents….). This percentage seems to have increased over recent decades due to the fact that new social habits have made it difficult to reconcile what should be children’s natural sleeping-waking patterns with social requirements of both the children and adults. Sleep disorders in childhood can have negative effects on learning, attention span, mood, behaviour and quality of life in general for children and their families. Experts advise early intervention in order to correct bad sleeping patterns in children and it is important to follow your doctor’s recommendations.

As regards melatonin, some answers to frequently asked questions about its use are listed below.

What type of sleep disorder is melatonin most useful for?
Normally for insomnia in children, difficulty in going to sleep, and repeated awakenings during the night. What type of sleep disorder is melatonin most useful for? Normally for insomnia in children, difficulty in going to sleep, and repeated awakenings during the night.

At what age can I start giving melatonin to my child?
No specific studies have assessed the administration of melatonin during the first year of life, however due to the relative absence of any side effects and the fact that its endogenous production is not altered, its administration can be recommended after the first six months of life.

Is it safe? Does it have any side effects?
No significant side effects have been reported even after 1-2 years of continuous administration with doses of up to 20 mg a day. Melatonin is not addictive.

Does it work in children?
Melatonin has proved to be safe and effective in all studies on jet-lag and insomnia in children without producing any side effects. All studies on children have demonstrated the clinical benefits of melatonin, with a reduction in the time needed to fall asleep and nocturnal awakenings; an improvement in mood and behaviour has also been observed during the day.
